Our 6 months together is over. To meet the challenge of investing in our "era of repair," the Taskforce has prioritized the following infrastructure projects:
- Cloud technology starter pack for nonprofits
- Technology and data skill-building, focusing on both leadership and literacy
- Addressing the myth of technology investment as "overhead" prevalent amongst funders
Nonprofit Starter PackTHE PROBLEM: Nonprofits need assistance shifting to the cloud. Doing so will provide lower tech maintenance costs, increased security, and enable data collaboratives.
THE PROPOSED SOLUTION: An alliance between TechSoup, NTEN, NetHope, TAG, and the Cloud community to implement and deploy cloud starter packs for nonprofits. THE PROMISE: A shift in thinking from proprietary to open-source support infrastructure enabling more rapid digital transformation powered by our collective insights and intelligence. CONTACT: [email protected] Tech Overhead MythTHE PROBLEM: Funders often feel reluctant to provide grant dollars for digital infrastructure. As a result, many nonprofits lack the tools or skills necessary to provide services in their communities in a digital context.
THE PROPOSED SOLUTION: A campaign to establish a new paradigm for funding the digital infrastructure necessary for an equitable and sustainable social sector. THE PROMISE: Nonprofits have the skills and knowledge to advocate for technology investment and are able to secure sustained funding for the digital infrastructure required for mission fulfillment. Tech Literacy & Leadership SkillsTHE PROBLEM: Nonprofit Technology Assistance Providers (NTAP) have little overlap and serve constituencies in disparate ways. NTAP’s need an integrated strategy for providing programs, services, and models in order to best meet constituents needs. Funders need an integrated strategy for how to invest across the spectrum of programs.
THE PROPOSED SOLUTION: A program to map technology capacity building efforts underway today, identify gaps and opportunities, and invest in existing programs to reach more organizations while strategically supporting models that address gaps. THE PROMISE: A clear path for investment, expansion, and scale to more effectively and rapidly increase the technology management and leadership capabilities of nonprofits.
